Exhibitions

24 Hours Northbridge Photographic Exhibition

Jane won three categories in "24 Hours Northbridge", an exhibition that toured Western Australia. One of Jane's photographs was so popular that someone stole it.

"I took one shot of a guy walking down Lake Street in Northbridge from the Rise nightclub who had just been in a fight. He had his shirt off and was sporting injuries. While the 24 Hours exhibition was shown at the Central Park tower a distressed organiser rang me to say a young guy entered the exhibition space and started screaming and created a scene. As the organiser tried to help, a second male ran in and ripped the photo off the wall. Then they both escaped. I love it - the effort gone into stealing my photo feels strangely more rewarding in some ways than someone actually buying it!"

ECU Graduate Exhibition - Flash

One of Jane's photographs was selected to represent the "ECU Graduate Exhibition - Flash".

The Simple Things in Life - A Snapshot of East Africa

Jane's first solo exhibition took place in Melbourne, it was called "The Simple Things in Life - A Snapshot of East Africa". It explored the diversity of East Africa's landscape and culture.

"For centuries east African countries have been plagued with civil war and political mayhem and as a result the majority of people live in poverty and even lack clean drinking water. Though they live with what we would consider constraints mixed with hopelessness, the people of Africa can only be described in my eyes as free. The happiness that shines through their smiles, and their unconditional love and respect for family, tradition, culture and the land, it is clear that perhaps WE should take some time to get down to basics. For me, it seems we have some how managed to forget............The Simple Things in Life."
